Royal Wedding - TaDa!!!!

She is all set to go to the wedding.

I know I know I am a geek!!! I can't help myself. It is part of my Heritage. My maiden name is Lippincott. I am so excited!!! I am actually getting up at 4:00 am to watch the Royal Wedding. I also took a day off. Steve has been teasing me all day. What a poo head.

But anyway, What an exciting time for England.
You can say what you will about it!  There is a little fairy tale aspect in all this. It is most every girls dream to marry a prince.(I know I married mine) Its in all the story books.

I had to do a Journal Page just for the Royal Wedding.

JOURNAL LOVE and Paint Party Friday/Sunday Sketches (alittle late for one and early for the other)

I have some mad journal love happening right now.  Love my new journal. I bought it at the Fish Market in Seattle. Made out of Buffalo Skin and a Turquoise button. It already looks like it is 20 years old.
 Love Love Love it!

I am having so much fun with it. I am not sure what the paper is. I am still working to find the best material to create in it yet. I tried just ink.
This is something I do when I am trying to get something out of my system. I write on top of all the words.  I write in a square. It is really not something that I want anyone to be able to read because it is my crazy stuff in my head.  And it creates this kind of cool scribble.  It gets all my demons out. And then puff the madness is on the paper and out of my head. And I am happy again! Most of the times it works.

When I go to bed I have been grabbing this journal and doing a quick watercolor sketch.  Pens and Watercolor on the side of my bed with all my books.
Can't live without it!
Alittle Watercolor

A little Mixed Media
More Watercolors

Takes 10,000 hours to be a master at anything

~I am putting my 10,000 hours in~

Artfest 2011 and Sunday Sketches

Artfest 2011!!! What fun! I have meet and reconnected with a bunch of amazing and talented women!!! What fun we all had learning, laughing!!  Shout out to Shonna (My new adopted daughter, don't forget about your art you are too talented!), Rachel and Will(So glad I got to meet the kids and parents, What a treat) Karen(What an amazing person you are), Nancy(My angel), Nancy(Your cake story made me lose my oxygen for a minute, I laughed so hard I almost fainted!)Linda, Barb, Barbara, Francie (you Zumba queen and thank you so much for my snail mail), Gail (I am so glad we connected).  And so many others that I can't even name!!! 2nd time around was so different!! It felt like home.

This is the piece I made in Lynne Perella's class.  So many different techniques that I would not usually do.  Really opened up a lot of other avenues for me as an artist.

\
This was my most favorite class of Artfest this year!!
Teachers name was Roxanne Padgett.
I loved loved love her!!!
Very personable and generous.
What fun!!
Tracing wheel is a fabulous tool!! Watch out Joanne Fabric's here I come!!

I also did a class with Misty Mawn!! Always love Misty's class. My project was not quite finished.  I will show you when I am satisfied with it.  I just gessoed over the whole face.  So time for a do over!  It was a different technique of using Neocolor II Watersoluble Carandache Crayons(Love Love Love these crayons. I use them all the time)
and gesso.  Not sure about it yet.  I have to keep working with it.

So the best way to show you what happens at Artfest is to show you the art that is made by so many different people
(So for the lack of pictures, I was feeling a bit under the weather and did not take that many pictures this year)

Lana's Wig Class.

Poor Jesse was very patient with us.  Funny story,  My niece was looking at my blog one day and she saw the picture of Jesse and thought "Why does my Aunt have a picture of Jesse on her blog??? My niece was roomey with Jesse's old girlfriend in college. So she spent alot of time with Jesse and old girlfriend. She had no idea what had happened to him in those years after school.  Small world.  They got to reconnect again on facebook.    So we are trying to take a picture for my niece Keely.  We got a little silly.  The funny thing was we kept on running into Jesse and Lana in Port Townsend.  Really nice people! Such a small world!

Jesse's painting from the Iron Chef challenge.

So many talented artists.

I AM PURE SPIRIT

I AM PURE SPIRIT

"Be aware that you are pure consciousness.
You are not lonely or lost or abandoned.
You are one with all life
You are pure spirit"
- Louise Hay-

Artfest here we come!!!!!

I just wanted to let you know that I will not be around for awhile. I should be back by April 13 and be blogging about my trip to Artfest 2011
I will be taking classes with Lynne Perrella, Roxanne Padgett, Misty Mawn.  I am sooooo excited.  I need to get away!!!  I believe this will be such a different experience then the first. I will not be the newbie anymore. I won't be so nervous. I did not know what to expect.  People don't realize that I am very shy in the inside.  And when I say that people laugh!! But it is true! I'm not kidding!  Inside I feel all scared and shy.  So I make up for it with my humor. I know how to make people laugh.  I think I found out early on with my parents the way to get them to notice me was by making them laugh.  Well that is another story best saved for another time......

Life is Good!!!

And don't forget to check out the Art on Paint Party Friday!

My First Paint Party Friday and Brene' Brown

"Wholehearted"

I have just completed a Mondo Beyondo Dream Lab with Brene' Brown.  I can't tell you how much I enjoyed this.  Words are not enough!  It was all about Wholehearted Living.  About the need for belonging and being enough ,about self compassion, about courage and shame, It was about "Its ok to not be perfect". Oh so many things.  If you ever want to read a really great book get Brene Browns  "The Gifts of Imperfection" Letting go of who you think you are supposed to be and ebrace who you are. It was well worth the money and the time. I love classes that make me search my soul and grow.

I learn something new about myself everyday. I am a seeker.

This is my very first Friday Paint Party hosted by Kristin and Eva.  Come and visit and join the fun.

Sunday Sketches and Random Thoughts

I managed to do some Sunday Sketches this week. I am taking a Alisa Burke Class it is so fun. I love how she took so much care in making this class.  You can tell. Whoever is interested in learning to sketch or just wants a booster to get your juices flowing should take this class. It is very affordable and you will learn alot! It is soooo worth it!

I have been very busy working on a larger piece of art that I am putting in Hello Bluebird Shop.  Just putting the icing on the cake so to speak.  Not named yet.
Here is a peek..
Still alot to be done.

I have been so busy the last couple weeks. Getting ready for Artfest.  (Can't wait  eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!)  All kinds of things going on! Very exciting. I will tell you soon. I have some ecourses that I have not completed.  And one I am taking.  Soooo busy. I don't know why I do this to myself. But it is so much fun.

I will be taking  a Brave Girl ecourse in April that I am very excited about.  And I am saying this now.... I AM GOING TO Brave Girl Camp.  That is one of my goals. One of these days.   Heidi and Nelly I hope you are in....

But anyway what I am trying to say is that I am sorry for only blogging  once a week lately.  I am going to at least try for 2 times a week.  I just think I was forgetting about the work and spending to much time on the Internet.   It is something I am trying to figure out.  I work a full time job at an insurance company (don't ask. I don't know what happened ) and then I come home and I am trying to juggle with making art and creating my blog post and visiting people. It is so hard sometimes. I get burned out.   I am not complaining because I know this is what I have to do for right now.

I am exhausted but I have never felt so alive!!!  So here is to making time for the ART!!!!!

Go visit everyone at Sunday Sketches.  Thank goodness for them because it forces me to just go that bigger step for the sake of Art.

Two Generations of Owls

Heather Lippincott Foust (I always forget to sign it)

My sister Heidi has been after me to do an Owl.
So I did.

I wanted to show you the two different styles of Owls from generation to generation. The one at the bottom is my Mothers owl. I have this hung in my living room because she always had it in her living room.  From time to time I will show you some of my Mother's work. She was a wonderful artist and she taught me so much.  We just had different styles and you can see by both the pictures. Hers was done in pastels. Mine (At the top as if you didn't know)  is done in Mixed Media acrylic paint , paper and ink and all that good stuff.

THERE IS NO GREATER LOVE

This is a sad day for our family we lost one of our Matriarchs. The struggle is over. My mom and Aunt Net are together again. Like my Uncle said they are up there already making up some kind of Art project. I have been blessed to be surrounded by these creative strong wonderful souls. I have a heavy heart today.

My Aunt Annette and Uncle Don and my four cousins, Mike, Amy, Chris and Abby lived beside us growing up. The Coleman Family. There was a stepping stone path going between the houses and we even had one of those crank phones that we could call the other family . (It was many a good gag when someone came over to our house and we would tell them to crank the phone and listen and there would be someone on the other end to answer it. They would always look at us like who is this person).

Just some of the great memories I have with our combined families.

I was thinking of some way to pay tribute to my Aunt and this song kept popping in my head. Many a party we would all gather around the player piano and sing songs. We would take turns peddling. (Built very strong leg muscles).

This is one of the most memorable songs from my childhood. I can hear it now. All of us singing on the top of our lungs.   THERE IS NO GREATER LOVE......

This ones for you Aunt Net!

(disclaimeer......i have no idea who these people are in  this video . but this version is the closest that I could get to the music from the player piano  ILove It!)
