Find Your Balance

FIND YOUR BALANCE

This year my main focus will be on finding my balance.
Ever since I quit my corporate job I have been having trouble finding my balance.
Getting up and doing the work.
How do I balance my life. When right now I feel like it is all a blur.
It all runs in to one. Work and Play.
When I was working it was easy to get up in the morning, get ready for work, go to work, do my job, come home, make dinner and then go to my studio work for a few hours and then to bed.
Start all over again.
I had a routine. There was balance.
It seemed like I got a whole lot more done.
Now it seems like it takes me 2 hours just to take a shower and get ready for the day.
Believe me I am not complaining.

But I need to find my balance again.

Some how I have to create a routine.
Balance the work with the play.
I believe there has been too much play this year. Not enough work.
Maybe I was so burnt out that all I could do was play.

Nothing wrong with that!
I must have needed it!

I love to Play!!
So to start my year out "I will find my balance"
Balance between work and play.
And I guess if I have to pick a word for the year it would be

"BALANCE"

Taaa Daaaa!!!

Wanted everyone to know that
there will be an article in the "Reading Eagle" about my art.
I am so thrilled!!!
It will be in on Monday Morning.
My 86 year old Father is so excited about this.
He has been reading the Reading Eagle every morning for the last 60 years. He is more excited about this then Somerset Studio and Hallmark! Every morning I make him coffee and he goes in my Library and reads his paper from front to back. I love my Daddy!!

Also don't forget to get your issue of Somerset Studio!!!
Click on the button on the side bar or click on the above link to get yourself a copy.

I will give you another sneek peek!

They really did a wonderful job!!

Sooooo Happy!!!!

I will leave you with this quote.

"I always try to balance the light with the heavy - a few tears of human spirit in the sequins and the fringes"
~ Bette Midler~

I tend to trick myself with a daily schedule on my days off and in holidays at home (like now) I can really loose myself on some days doing (almost) nothing. And even if I may not follow every part every day, I do have a next step to turn to and get on with it.
My next step today is to write in my dairy, than do some house work (aargh! Laundry!!!), take pictures and write a blogpost and start my next art journal page...

First off congratulations on being published...that's so thrilling!! I was thinking that you were probably burnt out and will soon start your routine!! However I know of two very very successful business people who say if you love your job it's as though you never work a day in your life!! Keep that in mind as you amalgamate work with play! Also boundaries...set a lot of them so you don't get off track. Your art is so beautiful and deserves to have loads of exposure!!

Good luck finding balance. I work part-time, and am able to do a lot of my work from home, so I know exactly what you mean. Sometimes I think I'd be more productive if I had to just get up and go in to work every day. But I do love my freedom so much! So enjoy it!! What an amazing feature of your artwork in Somerset! Congratulations!!!!

I think I would find it hard to do art if I was working a corporate job because I would be so drained by the end of the day. I guess you can do your art on the weekend and get in the right state of mind. Your art in Somerset Studio looks amazing. Happy PPF

Oh the balance thing...so familiar! Yup, it's the routine you need to establish. Some days you stray from it and go play, but if you have a routine and want to get stuff done, the routine days are the winners, at least for me!

Yay for all your awesome achievements! Your dad sounds wonderful :)

Happy Paint Party Friday!

I struggle with this too. I'm reading a wonderful book called The Creative Habit by Twyla Tharp. It's a pep talk for artists establishing their own routines, among other great things. She is of the Edison school - 1% inspiration, 99% persperation. Check it out, you might find some good tips.

Heather, I totally understand your need for balance. I also will be leaving my art director/graphic design job of 22 years. I need to pursue my dreams. I tried the weekend & was just too tired to give it my all. A new chapter for both of us.
