Hello Everyone!!!
I have been missing in action since the beginning of the year. It is winter time and on the east coast it has been especially a tough winter. With that came a long illness. (since Dec). And with that comes some deep Melancholy. It has caused me to not create as much as I would have liked. I tried very hard to practice. And push myself. I am coming out of the hole at this point. Yayyyyyy!!! I feel so much better and my health is improving.
Brrrrrrr.........
So with that said, my
word for the year is Engage.(I am a little behind) I have a tendency to go inward and not
engage with people. It is a big flaw with me. I am a bit of an
introvert. I could stay in my studio for days and not talk to people. People that meet me don't believe me when I say that. But it
is true. I am quite Shy, not feeling good enough. I compensate when I meet people by talking to much and being funny. Ask my Daughter and my Sisters. I am trying very hard to get
out of this and take the big leap into socializing but it is so hard for
me. So ENGAGE is my word. And I am going to work really hard at being more social and engaging with my new friends and old friends. Remember that Annie!!! You and me making art!
I am focusing on portraits. It is my biggest passion right now. That is all I am interested in at this time. The more I practice the better I will be. Right? As you know I am a firm believer that you have to put your 10,000 hours in to be an expert.
I am trying to find my own style.
This one makes me laugh because I hate to waste paper and this one I did on top of some silly bug creature I had done awhile ago. It you look close you can still see it.
It took a lot of courage to post this with being absent for so long. But I am feeling the fear and doing it anyway.
I hope you enjoy.
So until we meet again!
Sending much Love!
All changes, even the most longed for, have their melancholy; for what we leave behind is part of ourselves; we must die to one life before we can enter another.

I am a huge fan of your artwork Heather! Thanks for sharing your life too, I am so glad you are feeling better.May God bring you the melancholy and onto the other side with new joys and new better engagements!!!! I think we have stuff in common in the way of being alone and then over talking, maybe I am worse. I love the style you are unfolding into with your art, loved it in the beginning too by the way. Am in total agreement over the ten thousand hours of practice too! PHEW that's a lot of sweat and joy! Hugs, Sanna
Stunning portraits. Happy PPF
Your portraits are truly beautiful, I love your style. I hope things get better for you soon.
Von.
i am sorry to hear you've been ill and feeling Blue Heather but very pleased toy are fighting your way through it and engaging again with us at ppf. honestly your words could have been describing me-i am also an introvert who loves to be alone with my paints and like you i tend to talk to much and use a dry sense of humour for times when i feel uncomfortable in public. i imagine there are many other creative people just like us. As for your own style i don't think you need to find it-you already have a unique and very beautiful style which is instantly refinished to me as your work. Please do keep engaging. x
toy= you. refinished= recognisable (damn aautocorrect! )
Your portraits are wonderfully done! I especially love the life and expression in your eyes! Keep up the great work :)
Good to see you return, and that you're feeling better. That awful winter cold affected me a bit too. Your portraits are all absolutely gorgeous!!! I just signed up for a class because one of my goals this year was to learn to paint faces:)Best wishes as you move forward and engage!
Great art! Love portraits e your style. Healing light for you.
I like all his portraits, and I think you already have your own style, in their shyness do not think that's a problem too extroverted people do not have time to practice art, art is inside and need intimacy to develop.
Oh Heather, it is so nice to see you back again in Blog land! I am so sorry to hear you have been having health issues but I am happy that you are feeling better. :)
Your portraits are AMAZING! You know , I love your art.
Please take care and I am sending you Healing Hugs
Heather your art it soooooo beautiful! I can relate to your shyness big time, I think alot of us artists are alike in this way. So glad to hear you are feeling better and "engaging". I have been panic stricken the last couple weeks having to look for a new job after being layed off of my job of 8 years. The inteviews are giving me the diaraahs I am so nervous. But like you said, we must feel the fear and do it anyway! Big hugs, Deb
Heather, your art is gorgeous and very moving. I see a definite style. I hope you continue to feel better. Winter is tough... but Spring is approaching. Hugs to you.
A huge welcome back...you have a notable gorgeous style. I bet you will find most artist and musician have a tendency to be introverts. Doesn't mean they can't socialize when they are with people. No one would ever peg me as an introvert either, but I am.... So sorry you've been ill a lot of people have been including my daughter!! Absolutely stunning faces all of them....love every single one!! I hope you engage in whatever way makes your soul sing!!
Hugs Giggles
I just love all the wonderful faces! Thanks for posting and glad you are feeling better.
Wonderful faces ~ and welcome back to ... it all! And as one who share space in the northeast US, I can assure you that spring is ~ indeed ~ on its way. Less than a month away. Though some of the snow may linger beyond spring's arrival! Be well!
Every single portrait is wonderful. beautiful faces!
I also got sick, along with the rest of the family taking turns ugh!
Glad to hear out are getting better and posting too!
This post would've been great for the 29 faces challenge, which is excellent medicine for the cold weather and winter blues! ♥ Happy PPF!
oh my lord Heather... you don't need to be trying to find ANYTHING (especially not your own style). It's HERE baby! Your work is amazing. I could pick out your style in a crowd of a thousand. Your work is always very profound. Sorry to hear you've been feeling 'blah', but if it's any consolation - you're not alone. :) I am on the east coast of Canada and trust me - it's NOT been an easy winter, this one. I will be so relieved to see April around the corner. Let's hang in there together. xx
