Double Rainbow and Birds

So sorry everyone for not being around much in the past 3 weeks.  We have been dealing with some real crappy life issues.  The kind you think you are prepared for but let me tell you " You are never prepared".  If you have ever gone through a parents illness you will know what I am talking about.  I have been in quite a slump.

We did  go to the beach with Heidi, Nelly and the boys.  That was beautiful. It rained almost everyday but that doesn't matter when I can look out at that ocean. It never ceases to amaze me. I will never get tired of that view and feeling the awesomeness(I do not say that word lightly).  Sunrise on the beach and Sunsets on the Bay. We even had a double rainbow.  It was so beautiful. I have never seen one that I could see end to end. Steve and I both looked at each other and started to cry. We talked about how lucky we are and how beautiful life is. (I did see a double rainbow over Target one time, Hmmm Do you think that is where the Pot of Gold Is????)

I did manage to get some work done.
I have started some bird paintings. Not quite finished.
Still need to add some details

I found this Old Self Help Book that I pulled out the pages for the wings.

Still a work in progress

I did one of these before in my Circle Journal. I decided I needed to make a painting.

Just having fun with birds

I almost think I should name them.

Like Huey, Dewy and Louie????

Hope to see you soon. So sorry I was away so long.

Please visit all the wonderful artists at Paint Party Friday!

what beautiful birds! In particular like the idea of a self help page (a lot with good and uplifting words) as representing wings to maybe help you stay afloat during a difficult time. my heart goes out to you & your family

wishing the parent illness is something that will heal and all will be well again soon...yes, not fun at all, difficult and sad.

Lovely that you two could see the rainbows and appreciate the goodness of life as well.

I enjoy seeing your colorful style of collage and paintings! HPPF!

I love your birds. It's good to take time for you amid the stress of life issues. It's difficult when our family members are ill. Wishing you rainbows and peace.

I'm so sorry to hear you've been going through difficult times. I guess it's one of those things we all try to disconnect from until it happens which it inevitably will at some point.
Your photos are beautiful - that pink sunrise (set?) is gorgeous as is the double rainbow -mother nature really does come up trumps with her beauty!
As for your bird paintings - these are stunning. You know how much I love your style of work anyway and these are no exception!

I am sorry to hear of your sadness. Your birds are wonderful. I love their curly tails, the collage at the beginning is great! How about a bird naming contest with one bird card/whatever as a prize? I guess it would be hard to decide on only one name?? Well, the basic idea is something to think about!

So sorry to hear of your troubles. Parent issues are hard--I just lost my dad this last Christmas, and it's still hard every day.

Love the colors on all your birds--

Your stacked birds are amazing...so creative. I love the color. So sorry for your difficult time but am glad you have snippets of "you" time to cope. Prayers to you and your family.

You needn't apologize for having a life, not to mention real life problems. Personally I think it's creepy when people feel the need to constantly update rather than focus on things that don't involve a computer. And I'm sorry to hear about your ill parent.

I also want to say I love love love these birds. I wouldn't have known the top one was a WIP, and the ones in the blue frame are beautiful. The details on the wings really make them feel special and I love the bright colors you chose.

YES, WONDERFUL! The eyes on the birdies are so you and I just love that big wing from the old page! Really great, of course!

Sorry about the crappy life issues. We've had our share, and I will say your tend to notice the simply of beauty of skies and oceans and the natural world when you are in the midst of suffering.

love the little birds - my mom used to try to remember one of the Hebrew prayers by talking as if the words were three little people, and they remind my of that.

Blessed are You, Lord our God, who has kept us in life, preserved us, and enabled us to reach this season. (shechechianu, v'kiamanu, v'higgianu lazman hazeh)

Yes, aging parents...my heart is with you! the bird looks like he can bring you some peace while within his feathers! The rainbows are beautiful! I have only seen doubles once and it was just a few weeks ago...must be something in the heavens to remind us - yes, we are blessed even in the midst of overwhelming times.
cheers, dana
