(These leaves were done with tissue paper!! OMG! it was so difficult, ripping, tearing, glueing, aweeeee!)
I believe my sisters and I are kindred spirits.
I am not sure if that is because we were brought up together.
Even though we are so different in so many ways.
Or is it because we understand each other and where we are coming from.
I find the older I get the harder it is to find other kindred spirits.
When I was younger the easier it was to find these people.
We then grow apart and go different directions.
We change and our needs are different.
We are in different places in life.
I yearn to connect with like minded people.
Do they exist??
I don't know.
I sure hope so because I believe connection is one of the most important things that we need as we grow older. I think we would shrivel up and die if we didn't connect with other people.
I yearn for My Kindred Spirits to Come.
I hope you find your Kindred Spirit too!

“I used to think I was the strangest person in the world but then I
thought there are so many people in the world, there must be someone
just like me who feels bizarre and flawed in the same ways I do. I
would imagine her, and imagine that she must be out there thinking of me
too. Well, I hope that if you are out there and read this and know
that, yes, it's true I'm here, and I'm just as strange as you.”

Great News!!!! Its Out!!! You can buy it at any Barnes and Noble, AC Moore, Michaels.
Having such an exciting year!!!!
I also want to announce that we have a new baby in our family.
Kye Faust McElroy.
So excited for my Nephew Josh and Liz.
And of coarse Maeve has a new baby brother!!!
So I will leave you with this song. It is a standard song that we have been singing to our kids and they have passed it down to there kids.
It was funny we were sitting around my sisters backyard and we where all there and we just burst out singing this song. Us and our kids. And now hearing our kids teach it to there kids is so great. Generation to generation.
It makes me cry... So sentimental right now.

ReplyDeleteCongratulations Heather! I do think there is a gene connection especially having been raised the same.
ReplyDeleteAs we age the more authentic we become the more we attract the right souls to us. I hope you find your tribe. I have a little goddess group of women I've known near 30 years we are so intimately connected and all very creative....yet we never really knew just how creative we all were until many years passed! It's a real joy to have friends like that!!I wish that for you too!

I really love the detailing in your Kindred Spirits piece. So pretty and it's such a cool painting. I can imagine tearing leaves from tissues would take forever :)

ReplyDeleteFirst of all congratulations on your publication. I have retired from writing for the periodicals, well over 400, but there is nothing like seeing your bi-line.
ReplyDeleteNow the leaves out of tissue? AMAZING!!!! They all look so perfectly finished. I truly love this piece and the kindered spirit post. I agree as we get older it seems they are farther away. This weeks art shows so much detail and life. Very well done.

ReplyDeleteThe details, texture and depth of your work is fabulous!
Kindred spirits are hard to find, but I think by joining the on-line art community, you have will find many kindred spirits around the globe!
The song is so catchy, it's no wonder your family adores and sings the song. It would be a touching moment to hear all break out in song, "I love my shirt, I love my shirt!" How groovy!
I really like the Somerset magazines, I am excited to know that when I pick up the issue your work will be in it! The owls you create are spectacular with all of the details, layers and colours!
I love owls, they word owl is also in my last name!
Thanks for being brave to share your art and reflective comments!
A fan of Anne of Green Gables and kindred spirits,
