Look Within

Look Within

I just wanted to let you see the progression of my last large painting.


Getting the paint on the canvas

Drawing, cutting and pasting the head and hand

More just feeling around on what I want to do.  Tissue paper for her shirt.  Bird is starting to appear.



Put her head dress on her head with more tissue paper.  Also cut out some of the leaves.



More leaves. And defined a border. I always have a border around it.

Coming along with highlighting and more borders.


Embellishments. Oh how I love embellishments. I want to eat embellishments.

I hope everyone is doing well this week. I will not be posting until 2 weeks. (I think) I don't know if I can stay away but I am busy getting ready for June 18th, Art on the Ave.
Sooooo excited. I have to stay off the computer until June 19th.  Ok, so if you see me on here again you must scold me!!! Please!!!

    This is awesome Heather!! Wow, just excellent. You actually drew the head and arm on separate paper, cut out and glued on canvas??? I've never done that but that is just a great idea. Thanks for the step by step process. I love it!! Happy PPF!! Oh and good luck at the art show. Have fun.

    Oh, I LOVE this, Heather! Wonderful work! Thank you for showing your process. I never would have thought to cut the head and hands separately. Brilliant! Your painting is gorgeous and I adore all of the details. I wish you much success at the art show!

    She looks great! You changed the centers of the flowers, but they really look good. Love seeing the process, I forgot how it looked in the beginning.

    It's fantastic to see how you did this. I never would have realised that the head and hand (and all the other bits were collaged) It looks brilliant and I laughed at your love of embellishments! They look perfect!

    I really really love this painting. All the patterns and textures work so well together to make the whole piece really engrossing. It's just amazing.

    Your attention to detail is amazing; I can't imagine how long all that detailing took but it was worth every minute. The texture, color and composition are so intriguing. I love that you shared your step by step; it's so helpful for us beginners to see a process .
