FRIDA LOVE
I have always been a huge fan of Frida Kahlo. She was well know for her surrealist self portraits and the love story between artist Diego Rivera. (I can never resist a good love story) I adore her. If you ever get a chance watch the movie with Salma Hayack. Wonderful movie.
So many of my favorite artists paint Frida portraits.
Some of my favorites are Heather Galler (Soon to buy one of my own), LuLu Mypinkturtle ( I bought one for myself) and of coarse Danita. Go and visit them they are some of my fav artists. Love all the colors.
I decided I would paint my own Mixed Media version of Frida. Thank you Gloria for your inspiration!!!
Hi Heather, I was just getting ready to sign off and I saw your post pop up. Wow, she is beautiful. Thanks for the mention, that was very nice of you. Lots of beautiful detail in your Frida painting, I love it. The colors are perfect for this painting. Excellent! Happy PPF!
ReplyDeleteIt looks like her too! I never know what my portrait girls are going to end up looking like so I think it's great you can successfully produce a recognisable likeness.
ReplyDeleteAs a big Frida fan I can only say - Wonderful!

ReplyDeleteI have to admit that other than knowing Salma Hayek played her in a movie which I haven't seen, I don't know the first thing about Frida. However I know Gloria does a lot of paintings of her and I think i have seen her crop up more than any other artist since I've been coming along to the Paint Party Fridays! So, now I am intrigued to rent that movie and learn a bit more about her!
