I have some mad journal love happening right now. Love my new journal. I bought it at the Fish Market in Seattle. Made out of Buffalo Skin and a Turquoise button. It already looks like it is 20 years old.
Love Love Love it!
I am having so much fun with it. I am not sure what the paper is. I am still working to find the best material to create in it yet. I tried just ink.
This is something I do when I am trying to get something out of my system. I write on top of all the words. I write in a square. It is really not something that I want anyone to be able to read because it is my crazy stuff in my head. And it creates this kind of cool scribble. It gets all my demons out. And then puff the madness is on the paper and out of my head. And I am happy again! Most of the times it works.
When I go to bed I have been grabbing this journal and doing a quick watercolor sketch. Pens and Watercolor on the side of my bed with all my books.
Can't live without it!
Alittle Watercolor
A little Mixed Media
More Watercolors

Hi Heather! Happy Easter. I am so glad you posted even though late, because I thoroughly enjoyed your post. Firstly, I LOVE your journal too! I can just imagine how it feels. Secondly, I LOVE what's on your pages in your journal, how you made each page, what you said on them and the colors you used. Such fab eye candy, and the sentiments could be my own. What a great idea, to journal before you go to bed. And the best one, which I will borrow if you don't mind, is writing on top of your writing to get things out of your head! Have a wonderful rest of your weekend and a great week.
ReplyDeleteOooh, I have total journal envy!! That journal is the BOMB!! I can't wait to see more of the pages you create in it. Have a great weekend and Happy Easter!!

ReplyDeleteWhat a cool new journal. Your pages are all so pretty!
ReplyDeleteI am loving all of this creativity in so many different mediums! I think it's great that you keep watercolors next to your bed. (My sketchbook travels with me from room to room throughout the day - you just never know when you might have a free minute or an idea that just needs to get out!)
ReplyDeleteYour scribble writing fascinates me - I see lots of birds in there.

I love your journalling style. The scribbling is a great idea as it works out your frustrations and looks artistic to boot! I think the magical flowers are my favourite- the colours are wonderful.
ReplyDeletelove your journaling...clean house sweet... house being literal or our heads???? Beautiful way to express and expell! I color inside the lines when trying to make myself focus and scribble all outside the lines when trying to vent! I have my own coloring books and they are my therapy!
ReplyDeletecheers, dana
I love your new journal book and I love your doodling/painting. Also really like that "Be Strong" piece as well. :) Happy Easter!
ReplyDeleteEvery. Single. Piece. WONDERFUL...
ReplyDeleteI was slowly scrolling down, admiring your work when I glanced at your profile and saw the word "grandmother" !!! No way! You look like you are mid-twenties at the most... :D It struck me, so I had to tell you. Normally do not comment on ages or looks...But had to...
Love the journal/artbook too. Great buy.

ReplyDeleteHappy Easter!
I am so loving your watercolor journaling! your new journal is so nice too! Happy Easter!
ReplyDeleteI love this! Lots of beautiful ink work with colours that just zing.
ReplyDeleteYour writing on writing technique is a great idea and no doubt some fantastic therapy for the brain. I certainly like the texture it creates.
And I'm particularly interested in the phrase 'doing a quick watercolour sketch' before bed. How long does it take you? I'm trying to speed up my work, with mixed results because I'm too pedantic, and that idea is a great one. Hmmm...I think you've sprouted an idea for a challenge ::grin::

(fertile brain first thing in the morning)
lovely start you've made on the new journal.
ReplyDeleteVery cool journal and I love your pages. Keeping it all next to your bed so it is handy is a great idea.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE your journal pages. I, too, want to do more but I haven't brought the paints to my bedside yet. Maybe that's what it will take to be more diligent!
ReplyDeleteThese are fabulous Heather!
wow - love the 10,000 hours concept. Might have to try timing myself at something I particularly want to refine skills in. The sketchbook/journal you bought is absolutely stunning. I always have a thing for fresh new books to fill! As I start my new art e-course I am buying a new one to start along with all those doing the course!
ReplyDeleteLove your watercolours in the evening. And mixed media is my passion. I recently discovered copic markers which are my current new love.
Thanks for sharing :)
