I have always been obsessed with Madonna and baby paintings. When ever I go to a museum I tend to go to those very folky(I don't think that is a work) gold Mary paintings.
I am not particularly religious. But I am very spiritual. I believe in the power of love.
But even as a child I would be so intrigued by the religious medallions. I remember the people that lived behind us were cleaning out their house and throwing away all these medallions and rosary beads. I couldn't understand why anyone would want to throw them away, they were so beautiful, so I dug them out of the trash and kept them in a box and would just take them out to look at them from time to time. I lost them some how, I don't know where they ever got to but I wish I had them now.
I wanted to capture the love a mother has for her baby.
And the simple contentment of a baby.
This is beautiful... you captured the moment perfectly :)

ReplyDeleteI hope you unexpectedly find your treasury of rosaries and icons.
They are both beautiful! What detail. I love the color scheme as well. I wonder what ever happened to your beads? I can't imagine anyone throwing out such a religious symbol either! If for nothing else, that can't be good Karma!

ReplyDeleteLove the story of those medallions and rosary beads. Hope you can find them. Isn't it weird how things you cherished as a child disappear? There are quite a few things I wish I could find now in some secret place I'd forgotten about. Alas, there is no such place.
This is BEAUTIFUL! Those warm colors are right up my alley. Thanks for stopping by today Heather.
