For so many years I was someone that I thought I was supposed be. Not who I was.  

 Not feeling good enough.

Not willing to venture into the unknown. 

Feeling that I would be hurt.

Always told not to think to big. "Because you don't want to get your hopes up"

(They had the best intentions)

Whats wrong with getting your hopes up???

So what if you are disappointed???

Sometimes you have to feel uncomfortable to get what you want.

 Think about what may happen if you do reach that star or grab that brass ring!!

Think Big!!!!

Dream Big!!!!

Don't ever give up your dreams!!!

They are waiting for you to reach out and grab them.

I am going to hold onto mine!!

I wanted to thank all of you for your well wishes.

My surgery went well.  Now I am getting use to scooting around in my knee scooter.

A few close calls.

My grand kids like it and want me to keep it so they can ride down the street. (I don't think sooooo)

They are scooting all over the house.

I just keep on saying "do not leave it in the other room when you leave". I can only imagine them saying goodbye and my scooter is in the library.

Stranded in the Livingroom and no one to help me.... Ahhhh....

But anyway it is nice to be out of my fog.

Feel the Fear and Do It Anyway

My daughter Nelly's Journal Circle Theme is Words to Live By.  These words are the most life changing words for me ever.   In the late 80's I read this book "Feel the fear and do it anyway" by Susan Jeffers.  Just a simple message but for me at the time I was going through some insecurities and it was so powerful for me.  Sometimes you read a book and it changes your whole life.  This was one of those books.

It is something I say to myself all the time. I say it to anyone that I feel is struggling. If you have time to read it. It is such a simple read. Even if you don't like to read it is simple.  It may just change your life. What do you have to lose.  Feel the fear and do it anyway.  Love that!

So anyway, the reason I made this painting in this style is because it is a style that I struggle with.  I have taken classes with Jesse Reno and Flora Bowley.  I took those classes knowing that I struggle with that kind of free painting.  Seeeeee I felt the fear and did it anyway!  I have learned a lot of valuable things from those classes.  So if I would have let my insecurities get the best of me I would not have learned some new tools.

Also, I will be having surgery on my foot tomorrow. Ahhhhhh!!!! Dr Skip will be repairing my Achilles Tendon and removing some bone spurs.  I had my right foot done 3 years ago.  It was a long recovery but so worth it!! So I am choosing to feel the fear and do it anyway. I am choosing to think of all the walking and exercise I will be able to do after this is healed. It will change my life.  I was an athlete in my younger days. My sister Jamie and girlfriend Dolly use to run 6 to 8 miles a day.  I am paying for it today. But I will look forward to the day when I can at least walk (not run) 6 to 8 miles.  I crave exercise!! Yes I am one of those crazy ones.  Love the rush of adrenaline. I will be able to shed these unwanted pounds and be thin again.

Art Saves

 I read the Art Saves Book from Jenny Doh last week on vacation. It was wonderful.  

I also wanted to let you know that on August 22, 2011 I will be the Guest Curator and also have my Art Saves story on the Internet magazine Cresendoh.

Talk about excited!!!! When I was asked by Jenny to participate I was jumping for joy.  Literally!!! Not kidding!!! I called every relative and friend I knew.

What an honor.  So check it out!!!

New Circle Journal - PPF

This year my theme for my Circle Journal is Things with Wings.  Very excited about this one.   I never get tired of drawing or painting things with wings.  Angels, Butterflies, Birds.  All things beautiful have wings.  Even Gargoyles, Flies, Anything with Wings. ((Maybe Bats not soooo much but some people like them.))

Something about flying is so serene and calming to me.

I wish I could fly. 

I have flying dreams all the time.

 Do any of you have flying dreams?

And do you know what they mean?

Prom Night

(Ok I told you I would switch it out with the finished product. Here it is!)

This is one of my newer paintings.  Funny story my newphew was looking at all my paintings and looked at this one and said "Prom Night" It was just in its beginning stages and I was looking for a name for it .   So it stuck.  What a clever boy.  She has a frame around it now but I have no picture of it because my sister has my camera and she is not home this weekend "She is at the beach!"   So jealous but anyway. Happy PFF to everyone!!!  The finished one has little thingys in her hair.  I have to go I am going to be late for work!!!! I will scan her later today and replace this one.  Love you Guys!!!!

What a Lovely Day

What a wonderful day I had. My first show ever. It was a success!

Yeah!!

I meet so many interesting people. And I sold 2 originals. How exciting is that! And many prints and postcards.

It makes me so happy that my art is floating around the universe!

I sold my first print to a beautiful lady and her little girl. I have a picture of her in my camera , but I don't have it becauseI left it at my Uncles Solice party. (That's another crazy story). But I will be getting that camera back and I will post her picture. They were so sweet.  I let her get away after she bought the print, because I was so excited I forgot to take a picture of her. Soooooooo crazy as I am I chasing her up the street and she was so gracious to pose for some pictures.  Argh and I am the most unphotographic person ever!!!  All these skinny ass little people and I look like a big monster!! I really am much cuter in person!! I swear! (I think?!??)

I was so honored when Shelly Byrne bought my original "Bird Lady" What a compliment. Shelly is a well known artist in our area. And all over the US. She is also an old friend.  We go back to the old crazy days.

And look who popped into my stand!!! Reading's own Scoutie Girl, Tara Gentile!! Oh yes the poor girl!!! I almost mauled her to death!!! I screeched when I saw. She was so sweet.  Poor girl!!

This was the set up in the front of the booth with the prints and postcards. Nelly and I kept changing it up all day.

I had such a blast!!!!

I wanted to say one thing I would not have been able to put this all together without my beautiful (I am going to cry now) daughter Nelly Bell.  She is an angel!! I will forever be grateful for my lovely girl.  (And I have no pictures of her, She is a pain in the butt sometimes too, I kept on saying I wanted a picture with me and her but you know these kids!)

And to my wonderful men Stevie and Mike!!! Thank you Guys for your brawn and muscles!!! Your the best!!!

Oh also!!!! TaDa!!! Tracy and Kellen are FINALLY after 71/2 years engaged. They are soooo cute!!!  Our family is Sooooo  excited!!!

I just wanted to let you see the progression of my last large painting.

Getting the paint on the canvas

Drawing, cutting and pasting the head and hand

More just feeling around on what I want to do.  Tissue paper for her shirt.  Bird is starting to appear.

Put her head dress on her head with more tissue paper.  Also cut out some of the leaves.

More leaves. And defined a border. I always have a border around it.

Coming along with highlighting and more borders.

Embellishments. Oh how I love embellishments. I want to eat embellishments.

FRIDA LOVE

I have always been a huge fan of Frida Kahlo. She was well know for her surrealist self portraits and the love story between artist Diego Rivera. (I can never resist a good love story) I adore her.   If you ever get a chance watch the movie with Salma Hayack. Wonderful movie. 

So many of my favorite artists paint Frida portraits.

Some of my favorites are Heather Galler (Soon to buy one of my own),  LuLu Mypinkturtle ( I bought one for myself) and of coarse Danita.  Go and visit them they are some of my fav artists. Love all the colors.

I decided I would paint my own Mixed Media version of Frida.  Thank you Gloria for your inspiration!!!

ART ON THE AVE and Paint Party Friday!!!

  I am sooooooo excited I will be in my very first show. I will have my own booth and everything!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I just got the word that I have been excepted.  It is such a dream come true for me.   This is the town I grew up in and  I will have my very first show here.  I remember going to this fair and never thinking that I would be good enough to be in this wonderful show.   Just a few years later and my dream has come true.   This was one thing that was on my vision board.  Thank you Louise Gale for your wonderful Dream Inspire Create ecourse  idea for the vision board, I look at it everyday.  Such a great idea.   See it at my prior post here.  Also I have some other good news but I don't want to say anything until it gets a little closer.  Don't want to jinx it!
