Revisiting an Old Painting and Great News!!!

November 2010 I had the pleasure of taking a Flora Bowley Class.
We started on 2 paintings and I never completed a painting. So I decided to revisit it.
I struggle with this kind of painting. I believe it is less of an illustrative or narrative style of painting. (If that makes any sense). I tend to want to show you how I feel or tell you instead of letting the painting do the talking. I think both Jesse Reno and Flora Bowley have the same style of painting, except Jesse is more manly man paintings and Flora's paintings are beautiful in a feminine way.  Love them both!

This is what the painting looked like after my workshop. Did not like it at all.
But I never give up!!!! Oh no I don't!
Continued working

This is what I have so far. Not completed yet, but I will revisit again.
I do this often. Set it aside. If nothing is coming to me and then come back when I see something. Keep on going.

Also I have some really great news!  I was just told that I will have 3 of my pieces exhibited at the Goggleworks - Center for the Arts - Vanity Fare an offering of Art, Fashion, and Creativity jured by Lyn Godley and Pam Ptak. What an honor!! May 4th to June 3rd. Yay!!!!

And then to top it off I am going to the beach this weekend!!!! Ocean City MD for the St Patrick's Day parade with my fabulous husband!  Oh how grateful I feel right now.
I am so grateful!!!

Watching sunsets on the bay and.....
And sunrises on the beach..(to tell you the truth I don't see many sunrises. Steve wakes me up I look out the window and say "That's nice sweetie" and lay my head back down and fall to sleep, What can I say not a morning person)

Please visit the wonderful artists at Paint Party Friday hosted by the fantastic Eva and Kristin!!

Have a great week everyone!!!
May Joy reach you were ever you are!

Love the colors in the flower paitings.

Love your flowers...yes I understand completely. I need certain pieces just to stand and time to pass before going back to them. It's fun to play and stop, look at, add colour, take it away...anyway, your flowers are great, thanks for sharing the process with us and enjoy your week-end! xx

Congratulations on being included in the Goggle Arts exhibit! And for your upcoming get away.
I'm glad you revisited your canvas, love what you were able to do with it, it's always fun to learn, but only take the portions that fit with our own unique ways.

Wow- your painting is Wow! I thought the pics of it in the earlier stages was great but I think you made it even better with the paint you've added. I just finished a class is Jesse Reno and it was a very different style of painting than I was used to but I learned so much about myself doing it. Have a wonderful time in Ocean City!

Firstly-congratulations on your exhibitions - that's fantastic news! I've no doubt you'll sell out as your work is wonderful. I really like this painting even though you feel it is still a work in progress - it has your style all over it.
Hope you have a great St.Patrick's weekend. is it weird that folk in America love to celebrate this day yet even though I'm Irish and still living in Ireland I never do celebrate. Instead we're heading off to Scotland tomorrow for a week taking advantage of the public holiday we get for St. Patrick's day on Monday to not use as much of my own holiday leave!)

Oh wow, this is turning out AMAZINGLY beautiful! I really love your style. I am going to a SQUAM workshop where Flora will be teaching, and I chickened out on taking her class. I understand what you mean about having trouble with this style of painting--I like to illustrate or paint in narrative too; it's hard for me just to let go and let the painting direct itself. But I see the risk paying off here in this piece of yours. Again, AMAZING job! And congrats on your great news! :) --Sadee @ a Picturebook Life

Heather, i think your painting is BEAUTIFUL!! Wanna know what makes the difference for me? The added black and white. I'm slowly beginning to learn that sometimes - just a touch of these two colors can bring everything together. So glad you didn't give up on this one. Wishing you a wonderful week! xoxo
